Q: What types of therapy do you provide at MentHealthDT?
A: Good question, I am a mental health nurse practitioner. I do not have the depth in providing therapy that a Licensed therapist would. However, I do have educational hours in the role therapy plays in people’s lives. I also had to complete many hours precepting with therapist. So yes, I can provide brief supportive and comfort therapy.
Q: If I become a patient and do not like technology/virtual/telehealth platforms for performing visits, can I do a physical in-person visit?
A: Unfortunately, NO. This is completely virtual at present time. But if you change your mind and request in-person visits we will help you find a provider that offers in-person visits. If taking medicine, we also make sure that you will have at least 2 med refills until you can sit with the new provider.
Q: Is it the patient’s responsibility to watch for med refill needs?
A: Absolutely. While the provider will refill medications discussed at patient visit, it is ultimately up to the patient to know when a medication is about to run out. It is also the patient/guardian's responsibility to safe-guard medications. Mental Health DT or their providers are not responsible for lost/stolen/ or damaged medications.
Q: If I become a patient, is it my responsibility to pay for services that my insurance company will not pay? Is it my responsibility to know about my insurance company’s co-pay policy?
A: Yes, on both accounts. The burden to satisfy any debt owed is that of the patient. It is the patients’ responsibility to know about their own insurance policy on co-pays and deductibles. The consent agreement that the patient signs states that the patient will keep an active debit/credit card on file.
Q: Can the provider prescribe a controlled substance?
A: No. Currently regulations prohibit the scripting of controlled substances without a in-person visit.
Q: Is my patient information secure?
A: It is as secure as it would be if the information were located in a brick-and-mortar facility. Just like some agencies such as hospitals or doctor offices we partner with an electronic health record (EHR) company for charting patient visits. The EHR company we use is RXNT and are HIPPA compliant. RXNT has safeguards in place to protect patient information. Unfortunately, no technology is full proof.
Q: What if technology is breeched and information is leaked?
A: It is very rare this would happen but if this occurs, we will inform the patient or guardian. We would work with the EHR company to find out how patient chart information was exposed.
